We are installing a Superfast Ubiquiti Wifi at a local business in Chiang Mai starting from today.

It’s a total of 18 Access points and 5 powered switches managed by a Ubiquiti Cloud Key. The network will be seen as one seamless SSID across the whole business area, with guest network access so that the business function is not impaired when hundreds of visitors try and stream youtube on their phones at the same time.

Every Smart Home or Business should feature rock solid wifi.

18 zone Ubiquiti WiFi Install

One of the very common mistakes that is made here in Thailand in homes and commercial premises is that multiple access points are used all with different names/SSID’s so you have Floor 1, Floor 2, Floor 3 or Master Bedroom, Living Room, Kitchen all as basically completely separate wifi systems. Meaning that moving between the zones is anything but seamless as the phone or computer you are using physically breaks off connection as you move between areas.

Ubiquiti Networking

Instead, the network should be seen as one SSID (wireless name) and smoothly switch between nearest access points without interrupting users experience. Whilst Mesh networking can be used when you have no way to run cable to a location it is ALWAYS better to run the access points cabled with Cat5 or Cat6 (Both can do Gigabit) and leave the Mesh kit for expansion to or coverage to areas where it’s impossible to run cable to.
